Wonder Project- Lesson 5

 Kia Ora bloggers,

Today we had another Wonder Project lesson. We mainly talked about stability and how our rockets would fly.

We had to find the centre of mass which we had to balance the bottle with a string where it would be stable and balancing on each side. Then we had to find the centre of pressure which we had to make a trace of our bottle then balance it on a ruler and where ever the trace of our bottle balances we make a line.

Then we had to take our bottle and put the trace over it. Where ever the line was on the trace we had to make a line on our bottle. When we finished that we had to do the stability test. Our group had to redo the fins because they were not the same size as each other.

We remade the fins then we had to find the centre of pressure. This one was a bit hard for our group but we managed to get it done. Then my friend who was already finished helped us do the stability test, our rocket was good and we finished.

Wonder Project - Lesson 4 - Making Rockets

 Kia Ora Bloggers,

On Tuesday for the Wonder Project we created our own Rockets. Room 9,6 and 8 went into the hall to talk about Newtons 2 law of motion. Newtons 2 law is F=ma, F is for force, M is for mass and A for Acceleration. If you apply more force to an object it moves at a higher rate, Mass is the weight of an object and acceleration is movement.

Then after Colm told us all about Newtons 2 law of motion the teachers handed out papers for everyone to make paper planes. Colm said that when we create our rockets it has to fly in the right direction. He asked people who thought their plane flew high to come up and show everyone. All of them were good and then he told people who thought there plan flew badly to come up and show everyone. This girl came up and flew hers and it didn´t even go off the stage. He told us the wings where the problem because there was a hole in it.

Then after that we went back into class to build our prototype rockets. We started of by cutting the top of a bottle and putting it on another bottle. Then we made our wings and drew that was on Neha´s rocket because we chose. We attached the wings and then put our bottle in a box where all the other groups prototype rockets where.

This was so much fun and I am really excited to launch them next week.

ToolKits

 Kia Ora Bloggers,

Today was Toolkits, there were different sessions and things you can learn. There were three sessions, everyone had a session to go to, me and my friend Alisi wasn´t on the list so Phil ( The one in charge of toolkits ) let us go to anyone we wanted to got to. We went to Word art. I got to learn how to make word art and how to download the word art I made.

Then for the second lesson I was presenting with my friend Mekhi, we presented one about shortcuts. Here are the slides we made, we showed them a lot of shortcuts. At the end some people gave us some shortcuts that wasn´t included in our slides. We did, copy and paste, New tab, take a snippet screen shot, reopen the last tab you were on, open another window, close the current tab you are on and Lock your chrome book screen.

Then the next session I went to was webcam toy, they taught us how to go on webcam toy and how to take photos on it. They showed us some photos they took themselves and then they gave us time to take our own photos. Toolkits was so fun today.

Here are some things I created today!

The Zoo Trip

 Kia Ora Bloggers,

On Wednesday the seniors went on a Zoo Trip. The first thing we did is we checked what group we were in, I was with Besi and Emrico. We went into the hall to have breakfast then a few minutes later we got on the bus. The bus was so cool, it had seat belts and the top of the bus was blue lighting up. We went on the bus with room 8, we even saw Motat on the way to the Zoo. We got to the Zoo and a Zoo keeper named Lizzy came to talk to us about the rules. She said to make sure to stay with your group, don´t bang on the glass where the animals stay and if you get lost go to someone who has a radio and they will help you get back to your group. Then after she told us to head off with our groups.

First we went to see the orangutan´s, they were hanging from towers and climbing. Then we went to go look at the spiders but we got caught up and went on the coast, we saw a seal that was twisting and turning, he/she was so cute, then next door to the seal was the penguins, they were baby penguins and so cute as well. Then we looked at the red panda, after that we went back to the place we we started at so everyone could explore Africa together. The first thing we saw were the giraffes, Zebras and ostriches, the giraffes were so tall and so cool.

Lizzy gave us some stuff about the giraffes like the feeling of there skin and there teeth. Then we moved onto the rhinos. They were so big, then we went to look at the Meerkats, there was a tunnel that we could go though to see the Meerkats even closer which was so cool. After that we went to see the birds, elephants and Turtles. Then we ate lunch and watched the spider monkeys getting fed. Then after that we saw baby seals that were SO cute. Then we took the same bus back to school.

Here are some photos my teacher took!

The Wonder Project- Lesson 3

 Kia Ora Bloggers,

On Tuesday we did another Wonder Project lesson. This one was different to last weeks one. We had 3 bottles, one was empty, the other was half filled with water and the last one was filled to the top. We put a blue sheet under all the bottles and Colm our ambassador showed us a video that told us stuff about Iniesta. With the bottles and blue sheet Colm picked 3 people who would come up and try to get the blue cloth off the bottles with touching or moving the bottles.

Issac Newton made the 3 laws of motion, today we only looked at the first one. The first law of motion, iniesta, he played a video and the video told us that if an object is at rest it will stay at rest, if it is at motion it will stay at the same pace. He said for an example a soccer ball, if it is not moving it will continue staying still unless someone puts force to it then it will start moving.

Then after that we came back to class and designed our own rockets. We had our own groups and we had to pick a rocket out of the people in our group. My group picked my friend Neha, now all we have to do is create and improve our rockets.

The Wonder project- Test launch

Kia Ora Bloggers,

This week, for The Wonder Project we looked at health and safety and did our first test launch. It was really cool, I got to be the safety officer and a kid named Justin got to be the engineer.

Colm who was the mission ambassador took us to Keith Hay Park and then he set up the bottles which were the rockets. We shot each of them into the sky with a air pump. We started of with the 250ml and pumped it up to 10psi. PSI stands for pounds per square inch, the highest we ca pump it up is 60psi. The first one didn´t really go that high. The next one we did was 250ml again but with 30psi. It went higher than last time and it really scared me when it shot up.

Then we did the next one, we used 100mls and 60psi. We improved but it went lower than last time. The next time we did 350ml and 60psi. It went high and i´d say better than before. Now for the last one, we did 60psi and 700ml. Everyone was so scared because they thought it was going to go really high but when it shot up it didn´t go that high. It was a fail.

Here are some videos we took!

Healthy Eating

Kia Ora Bloggers, yesterday we had a session about healthy eating. We learnt about foods that you can eat everyday and foods you eat only sometimes. We had to make these posters of what the food give you.
